the crew! Backlit, tired, happy...

Took Nikko on his first backpacking trip. He was joined by his bro, the Metres twins and their parents. We went to Emigrant Wilderness on Labor Day... and went to the closest lake we could get to that didn't require a permit. Not so surprisingly the whole bay area had the same idea and walking around Chewing Gum Lake felt like we were walking around Lake Merritt (not really... but kinda really). Having said that, the kids did great walking 4 miles mostly on their own, enjoyed playing with sticks, mud, rocks, and fire (especially Nikko).

| The night before... we just pulled over in the National Forest land and Nikko and I slept under the stars. I think this must be Nikko's first night under the stars. It was lovely. |

| It was really windy the first night, but we found a decently sheltered area and were OK. The next morning when the wind stopped, we quickly spread out. Impressive really... |

| D and I went on a run after brekky. I'd like to point out that Dave couldn't join because he busted his foot trying wheelies on his road bike. FAIL... |
