Went up to Spring lake for Kai's B-day. Probably the easiest place to go camping and swimming to get out of the gloom of the foggy days in the bay area in the summer.
We randomly pulled off for dinner in Novato, where they were having an antique car show. |
Where are the wheels? |
The kids were riveted. We grabbed a burrito from Carmen La Hacienda and got out our campchairs. Fri night was pretty mellow. After some smores I put the kids down. |
Check out the new camping cabins at Spring Lake!!! Looks like they took away the first come first serve sites, and added these. We got one for next year so Mama Margie and Papa Steve can join us! |
We cruised down to the swimming lagoon after breakfast |
Kai and mama waiting for the party to begin... |
They couldn't be happier. |
Cupcakes! |
After the party, the Chases joined us for dinner back at camp. |
The kids joined forces. |
We went to the ranger talk... |
Where Kai enjoyed a marshmellow, chocolate, smore cone... thing |
Back at camp. Toro came over for the fire (he stayed at D$'s mama's house). |
In the middle of the night, I woke up as these guys were just wresting outside our tent... |
I snuck out in the morning while the fam was asleep... to go do the Annadel XC. Which was super fun. 2nd weekend in a row of mtn bike racing! |
Sigman took a beating on this course. Broken brake, grip, elbow. |
After finishing, I jumped into Spring Lake, then went back to camp to change. Then we grabbed our complimentary beer (Lagunitas), food (paia), and cruised over to Spring Lake to chill-lax for a bit.

After packing up, I took the kids back to the lake... |
So I could tire them out for the car ride home. |
And we stopped by the snake shop in Berkeley that Durbo just told us about. The kids loved it! |
