Ride Report: Rose to Toads!

Been having quite the cycling year so far.  Haven't really done much regular riding, but I've done quite a few events... my first 1000k ride, Downieville XC, Annadel XC, and now TAMBA's Rose to Toads.   TAMBA is an amazing organization, and if you ride up in Tahoe (and if you don't you should)... I urge you to support them.

Here's Metres' Relive.  Not sure why mine didn't work. https://www.relive.cc/view/1165378969

Yesterday's pizza... today's smoky view over Tahoe.

There was also a Tahoe 200 mi run going on.  We ran into a few runners.... we quit our whining immediately.

Very technical selfies.  Not recommended.

Kinda amazing how many riders didn't know the etiquette of pulling over and letting others go through.  Toro ate it down a technical downhill where other riders were sorta blocking the way.  I laughed.  Toro with first blood.

X-ing Hwy 50 at Spooner Summit
We weren't sure what to expect at the 2 support stations... but they were amazing.  Really well done!

Jack eating a bloody PB&J...
Second support station at Kingsbury.  The ride gets tough from here.

Riding the back side of Heavenly

Temps were heating up so Toro and I were taking a dip any chance we could.

We lost Funk on the climb up after Kingsbury, and he bailed down Van Sickle.  Metres was feeling pretty worked and he went down Armstrong with J-chase.  Here we are at Star Lake swimming and waiting for Metres.  When he got there it was time for me to start going so I wouldn't be late for the shuttle.

Toro did Mr. Toads as well.  I got in around 6:30, and Toro came in about 5 min after the shuttle was supposed to leave.  He had a few mechanicals.  But he finished.  And had fun.  And that's what matters most.
