Day 1 = a bit heavy... but really fun. 

Day 2 = cold, wet, rainy... the snow was actually pretty fun, but once my crotch got wet.. I was done.

Skiing Trifecta: BC, Resort, Skate....

Well, I didn't have high hopes, but considering I've only gone on 1 dawn patrol this year, I decided I'd get out no matter what.  So at 5 am I got up, drove 5 min, skinned for 15 min, skied for 5 min, and waited for Mingus for 20 min.  The snow was quite crusty, and it was really cold out, but I got some great views of the sunrise and was glad I went.  Still haven't had a "bad" dawn patrol experience.

And lo and behold, the dawn patrol turned out to be the start of a skiing trifecta day.  Backcountry skiing in the morning.  Resort ski in the afternoon, and skate skiing during naptime.  I only got in 2 real runs in at Alpine, but spent a good 2 hours with Kai on the lifts at Alpine.  He is starting to cruise on his own at the resort... although his lack of fear is a concern.  After we made it home, I put Kai down and went skate skiing for my 7th day of the season, and 10th time in my life.  I think I'm getting the hang of it now.

First turns of the season!

Finally got my first turns of the season! Here's a quick vid to show you why my back was so sore the rest of the weekend.


The Friday before "ski week"... which happened to be Valentine's day.  Kimbo & Becky got out for a few hours and then traded off with Jack & I.

Kimbo stoked to go skiing for the first time in a few years.  First time at Alpine! Although her feet were in agony...

this was where the best skiing was late in the day.  It was all spring mush and this skied great.  

2012 Ski Season in numbers...

Since I get this asked quite a bit... and spent the last hour or so making this I figured I'd share.  I got in 26 days... 11 at the resort and 15 in the BC.  Did a lot more day trips so that I could spent time with Kai & Kimbo.

For the 11 days at the resort I spent about $210 using a variety of tricks... still cheaper than a season pass:

• 3 days at Alpine (10$ movie voucher, 50, 10$ voucher)
• 3 days at Bear Valley (snowbomb, 40, 40)
• 3 days at Kirkwood (39$ groupon, 10$ voucher, 10$ voucher)
• 2 days at Sugar Bowl (free & free)

Sadly didn't get any days at Squaw... got in over 20 last year at Squaw alone.  But Alpine was really fun.

Is SOOOOO much fun.

Went to Alpine this weekend on a day trip to catch some of that white stuff falling from the sky.  My 2nd day of the season... was planning to take it easy, but this was my 3rd time off this drop, saw a kid do a backflip off of it... and Funk & Toro got their cameras out so.... yeah.

This was the type of shenanigans I've been doing at Squaw & Alpine the last two days.  

I've been giggling like a little girl at a Justin Bieber concert... MAN skiing sure is fun.
