Xmas in Auburn - Chewacla SP!

Just hanging'

Mainly a reminder that I'll need to prioritize renting a bike when I'm at my in-law's next time.  Maybe splinlister will remain?

I wanted to check out Chewacla SP for the mtn biking potential I heard about... and the place didn't disappoint.  There are features galore back there.  Went on a trail run after opening presents (it was Xmas after all) and Kimbo and Becca brought the boys to meet me there a bit later.

Papa Steve overflowing with gifts.
The boys did a good job behaving this year...
Kai cracking a geode open.  Might have been his favorite gift.
Now... check out Chewacla.  Starting with this wall ride!
and 20 ft gap jumps...

in disbelief

Soon the fam joined me for a nice hike to a waterfall...
on the way we caught this lizard...

There's a nature trail...
And the kicker... they have a high dive!  Woot woot!  The water wasn't heated, however...

Ashland for Thanxgiving!

A few weeks after getting KOed on my bike.  My parents flew into town!  Boy were they surprised to see me.  We got an AirBnB in town and spent 6 days in Ashland over Thanksgiving.  We got to see a lot of old friends, feast on a lot of meals, go up to the snow, and I got to do a lot of trail running.

Lot's of morning runs:

X-mas in Japan: Part 8 - X-mas in Hiroshima

OK, gotta go through these pics.  It's been 4 month.  Ayee.  But it really is fun going through these pics recalling these fun times.

Here's the rest thus far...
Part 1 - Getting to Kawagoe
Part 2 - Minakami
Part 3 - To Jigokudani
Part 4 - Snow Monkeys!
Part 5 - Railway Museum, cousins
Part 6 - Tobu Zoo
Part 7 - Osaka Kid Zone

Went on a quick morning run. The mountains surrounding Hiroshima have tons of trails.  Some end up in folk's backyards... so be warned.
Nice, hazy view of Hiroshima awaits you on every turn.
and there are many "rest areas" on the hike.  With clocks, statues of buddha, brooms, thermostats, benches, etc...
And lots of maps.
Check out this "street" I ended up on.  Would be tough to fit a RadWagon through this...
The path leading up to the temple.  On a side note, the owner of this car must be a former race car driver.
Back at the house.  Kai was playing cards... and getting ready for Xmas eve party.
Japanese playgrounds are great.

After Kimbo and Becca finally got ready we made it to her friend's Xmas eve party.  There were tons of kids there, which was great for Kai and Nikko to interact.
Kai learning Sushi-Go!

Night night... gotta rest up for another busy day tomorrow...
