Bird Dongin'... the greatest trip up north...

L to R: Gnar-do, The Turnin' German, Mr. Moses, Sena, Ksmear, (Squatting: Nick "Just Send Her" Barton & Messy), the Lumberjack, Keith "the lone wolf", the splitboarder, Gulotta, Metres, me, Toro.
What a trip!  The stars lined up for this one... an amazing crew, unbeatable terrain, decent weather, great conditions, with no major incidents... One for the books.  This one would take too long to document properly, so I'm just going to share some of my favorite pics from the trip and will post some vids later.  Most of these aren't mine.  Photo Credits to Stefan, Toro, Bernard, Sena, Metres, and others...

AK 2016 - Vid part 2

Well... this is long overdue... egh?  I should post up some pics from this trip too... ok... on the to do list...

I've been just busy watching vids like these... then I don't feel like making these vids anymore... sigh.
BUT... it was fun to go back and edit the footage so much later as now I recall the trip a bit better.

AK 2016 - Vid part 1

See... the problem with these big trips is that you come home... you are a week behind in work, house stuff, and life in general.  Then you have a ton of footage to go through that is the last thing in your mind...

Anyway, I've decided to do this in 2 parts since it's taking me too long to go through the whole thing without breaking it up.

TR: Carson to Kirkwood!

2016-01-28 10 14 51
summit shot!
Had a great day out with Messy and Lou-Doo.  They were on their way to Mammoth, staying at HvF on the way down, so I caught up with them for the classic tour from Carson Pass to Kirkwood.  We met up at the Kirkwood parking lot around 7 am, and we were back at Carson touring by 8 am.  I was on a bit of a time crunch as I had to be back in the bay by 6 pm, but nevertheless we still skied Crescent Couloir, the sisters, 4th of July peak back to Kirkwood by 1:45 pm... and I made it home by 5:30 pm.  All in all, another great day in the mountains.

This time, everything went smooth... no naked ski descents, no broken necks, no mingie riding chair 3, drunken boy scout troop leaders, etc... unlike last time.  9 years ago.

We saw these boot tracks, so we decided to go up the chute rather than going around...

Since the main chute (looker's right) was a bit wind buffed and crusty, we decided to check out the middle chute.  This would be the craziest entrance to Crescent... a double with a 40 footer that drops you into the middle of the chute where you have to point it for 500 ft until you reach the apron.
