Central Oregon Road Trippin' - Part 2: Bend with Mooreheads/Dixons

After Waldo Lake, the boys and I checked out the bike park at Bachelor.  Just the kiddie zone.  That was fun for a few hrs.

The Bridges came up and met up with us for the next few days.

I believe this is Tumalo Falls... that Shasta and I ran to, while the fam biked.

Floating down the Deschutes...

Aaron had this crazy contraption...

We stayed with Lou Doo, Joel, & Mary pretty close to downtown.  We had some great walks into town to check out the sights.

And some great morning runs.  Shasta at the tippy top of Pilot Butte with the Sisters in the background.

Then we went up to Smith Rock area and found some camping behind it.  This was during a morning run.

Top of Grey Butte

Nikko enjoying the water at Smith

And we cruised over to Steelhead Falls which was a nice swimming hole.

Grabbing food & brews at Sisters

Lots of snacks on this trip...

A quick visit to Sparks Lake... which was really really low...

And there were leeches...

I love the "canyoneering" at Sparks Lake.

Found a mtn bike feature in one of the neighborhoods in Bend.

More treats

And more...

Joel got some too

Meadow Dongin: Third time... is also very good.

Another amazing trip to our neighbors up north... man... maybe I should move up there?!?!

Gord is the man.  Paola made this trip untoppable.  Maybe until next time?

More photos here

Here's what I did:
March 5 - Kicking Horse day 1 with Sam and Barton - Gondola shut down at 1 pm, but we had fun for 5 hrs.

March 6 - Kicking Horse with the crew - my skis delammed...

March 7 - Meadow hut arrival - got there and was uber stoned due to some chocolates...
I did put on my skis, but didn't ski much.  I did a lap out the front door, then jumped in the sauna, then the snow, and back

March 8 - Meadow Hut day 2 -

Note Cupola peak behind Meadow
Check out those tracks on the fondues
March 9 - day 3, cupola peak! - slayed it! And did a full moon tour.

About to drop Cupola!
Full moon tour... with a bag of wine
March 10 - Meadow Hut, day 4 Passionate Fondue - Three laps down the fondues.  Soooo sick.

Our morning visitor
Gord, slaying it

March 11 - Meadow Hut, day 5 - had a great day out with Sam until I tweaked my ankle on a pillow line (Sam has footage).  That sucked.

March 12 - sat in the lodge with my ankle up and iced all day
But I did manage to get out and take some pics of Barton hitting the kicker.  Here's a lincoln that he stomped.  And he later did a backflip 180, which was pretty amazing.

Gord built quite the quinze.

March 13 - Last day at Meadow - we did laps on the front door where Barton took a slide on a pillow collapse.  He took out some trees but came out (quite luckily) unscathed.  Little did we know that the world was quickly changing due to COVID.  We heard from Sam that schools were closed...
Ankle swelling went down a bit...
So I decided to check it out.  And Barton promptly knocked down a pillow and slid down this whole way.
He got beat up, but no broken bones, etc.  His phone died.
This was a pillow that I knocked down on day 2.  Funk carved a thrown out of it.
Pillow land!

Check out these guys slaying it!
